University delegation visits universities in New Zealand and Australia

From November 27 to December 4, Li Chengwu, deputy secretary of the Party committee of the University, led a five member delegation composed of personnel from relevant functional departments and colleges of the university to visit New Zealand and Australia, and visited Lincoln University, Queensland University and Victoria University.

At Lincoln University, the delegation met with Dr. Lorraine petelo, vice president of the University, reviewed the course of exchanges and cooperation between the two universities in the past ten years, discussed issues such as expanding visiting learning programs and developing joint doctoral programs, and reached a broad consensus. The delegation also discussed with the departments of environment, sociology and design, agriculture and Life Sciences, and agriculture and Commerce of Lincoln University on teacher exchange and scientific research cooperation in related disciplines.

At the University of Queensland, the delegation met with the vice president of the University, Rongyu Li, etc., introduced the basic situation and cooperation vision of the University, discussed the fields of exchange and cooperation and the forms of cooperation such as joint training of doctors, reached a preliminary consensus on the establishment of inter university cooperation, and formally invited Li to visit the University in 2020. The delegation also held a round table meeting with more than ten experts and scholars of the University. They had in-depth exchanges on the scientific research of the two universities in the fields of crop science, horticulture, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, plant protection, biotechnology, etc., and discussed the prospects of scientific research cooperation.

At the University of Victoria, the delegation met with the vice president of the University, Steve Berridge, and others, made an in-depth inspection of the policy research center of the University of Victoria, and discussed issues such as continuing to promote personnel training, teacher training, and scientific research cooperation between the two universities relying on the discipline of economic management.

The visit expanded and strengthened the cooperation between our university and partner universities in Oceania, and opened up a new way for the joint training of high-level scientific research talents. In particular, it has established a formal contact with the University of Queensland, Australia, and conducted in-depth exchanges with its agriculture related departments and disciplines, laying a foundation for future substantive cooperation relying on the disciplines of crop science, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine.

During the visit, the delegation also inspected the design studio of the Department of environment, sociology and design of Lincoln University and the teaching, scientific research and experimental facilities such as the farm, greenhouse and animal husbandry station of the University of Queensland.
