Recently, the International Cooperation Bureau of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) issued the approval notice of cooperative research projects between NSFC and the International Consultative Organization for Agricultural Research (CGIAR) in 2019, and 13 projects in China were approved, Among them, Professor Li Honglian from the school of plant protection of our university and Dr. abdelfattah dababat, the research team of soil borne diseases of wheat from CIMMYT, applied for the project of "molecular basis of genetic diversity and pathogenicity differentiation of dominant pathogens of wheat stalk rot", which was funded with a direct research fund of 2 million yuan.

Stem base rot is a new soil borne disease of wheat first reported by Professor Li Honglian's team in 2012. The disease is caused by the accumulation of pathogens and the poor resistance of wheat varieties due to straw returning. In recent years, it has become an important limiting obstacle to the safety of wheat production. In recent years, Professor Li Honglian's team has carried out systematic and in-depth research on the molecular mechanism and control technology of pathogen species identification and detection, genetic diversity of dominant pathogens, interaction between pathogen and host, etc The Australian Federal Academy of Sciences (CSIRO) and the University of South Queensland have carried out cooperative research and achieved a series of research results. In this year, nearly 10 research papers were published in environmental microbiology, Frontiers in microbiology, current genetics, functional genetics and biology and other well-known journals.

It is reported that one belt, one road, has been awarded funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China for three years in collaboration with the international agricultural research Consultative Organization (CGIAR). It shows that our strategic cooperation with the international wheat and Maize Improvement Center (CIMMYT) has been deepening. It opens up ideas and vision for the school to further improve the level of related research.
